Assessment of fellows’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professionalism continues all the time as fellows work along with the staff. Every trimester, a formal evaluation by each faculty will be submitted and reviewed to follow the progression during training and correct individual deficiencies if needed. The fellow is also expected to secure more than 50% in final examination.
Service
The fellow will accompany the staff in their clinical activities and be responsible for managing care of emergency & elective cases in outpatient clinic and inpatient ward with supervision of attending staff. Additionally, the fellow will be required for running the morning outpatient clinic (8.00-9.00) for general orthopaedic patients twice a week. The fellow will also function in supervising the respective residents. The fellow will not be required to take a call.
Education
It is expected that the sports fellow will be an educator who enhances the teaching of other fellows, residents, and medical students. The fellow will be responsible for organization weekly sports medicine conference of each rotation, case presentation and article review that addresses each of the cases in the conferences, and helping resident prepare ward rounds of the rotation. The fellow is also expected to participate in the morning conferences of the orthopaedic division (7.30-8.30 on Monday to Friday) and responsible for didactic lectures for residents two times a year.
The fellow will also supplement clinical and surgical skill education via daily clinical activities and operation attendance. Every 1-2 months arthroscopic cadaveric workshops with local and visiting guest faculty are provided for fellow to participate and develop psychomotor skills necessary for surgery.
The fellows is also encouraged to attend sports medicine interhospital conferences (5 times per year), sports medicine review course, TOSSM cadaveric workshop for sports fellows, annual TOSSM meeting, and sports medicine specialty day at RCOST annual meeting.
Research
The fellow will work closely with individual attendings with instruction on study design and preparation, and preparing of manuscript. Each fellow will be required to complete at least one research project, either basic science or clinical research, that leads to publication during the fellowship.
